Online Giving

mnlFor over the last decade on most Monday evenings during the Fall and Spring "UMCHP" offers two hours of eating and study. We start with a prepared meal, and you don't have to cook, at 6:00 PM. The cost of the meal is usually around $6 a person and is collected by "free will" offering baskets at each table. Give what you can to help us to keep providing this wonderful time of fellowship.

At 6:45 PM everyone helps to clean up the dining room.

At 7:00 PM classes start and run for about an hour. You do not have to come to the meal to take a course, nor do you have to go to a class to share in the mealtime, come either or both.

It's Not Supposed to Be This Way: Finding Unexpected Strength When Disappointments Leave You Shattered
Leader:
          Claire Nuttall
Description:

What went wrong? Why did God let this happen?

Reality often ends up so very far from the life we long for, doesn't it? Bible teacher Lysa TerKeurst deeply understands daily disappointments and life-altering loss. By walking through her own valley, shes discovered that in God we can find unexpected strength as we wrestle well between our faith and feelings.

In this six-session video Bible study, Lysa offers a safe place to share your disappointments, fresh biblical insight to get you through painful situations, and life-giving perspectives for living in between Eden and eternity.

With solid truth, vulnerability and honest humor, Lysa will help you:

  • Find peace and hope for the future when you feel like your life is not what you expected.
  • Stop being pulled into the anxiety of disappointment by discovering how to better process unmet expectations and other painful situations.
  • Train yourself to recognize the three strategies of the enemy so you can stand strong and persevere through unsettling relationships and uncertain outcomes.
  • Discover the secret of being steadfast and not panicking when God actually does give you more than you can handle.
  • Shift your suspicion that God is cruel or unfair to the biblical assurance that God is protecting and preparing you.

Title:
          Top 10 United Methodist Beliefs
Leader:
          Kregg Gabor
Description:

Amazon's Review:

There can be no doubt about what Jesus thought was the main thing, the Great Commandments to love God with our heart, soul, and mind and to love neighbor as yourself. What were the non-negotiables for the founder of the Methodist movement, John Wesley? Wesleys first priority was to grow Christian disciples who loved God and neighbor with a holy love that keeps those Commandments.

As United Methodists what is our primary purpose? Put simply, it is to follow Christ as redeemed persons who put those Commandments into daily practice. Using John Wesley as guide, this book describes the ten most important United Methodist beliefs, so that we are equipped for every good work.

The book describes how a passionate Wesley can still inspire us to travel the road to perfection using these basic beliefs as signposts, not hitching posts, so that we can more fully follow Jesus. But discipleship can be arduous and Gods grace is not cheap. We must be prepared to walk the walk and not just talk. The Christian life is action packed with surprises at every turn. Are you able? as the old hymn asks. Yes, Lord, we are able through the power and love of God to be accountable to Jesus and each other.

The DVD features six sessions focusing on the chapters from the bookTop 10 United Methodist Beliefs. The session topics include:

  • Part One: IntroductionScriptural Beliefs & Conjunctive Theology (13:21)
  • Part Two: Scripture Is Our Primary Source & Reason, Tradition, and Experience (15:04)
  • Part Three: Grace Is the Necessary Glue of All Discipleship & Prevenient Grace (17:50)
  • Part Four: Repentance & Justification (15:23)
  • Part Five: Initial Sanctification & Holy Love (15:32)
  • Part Six: We Are Better Together & Entire Sanctification (13:47)
